A former senior accounting executive of a major telecommunications company has been arrested and is currently under investigation in connection with an alleged GY$153.9 million fraud, according to the Guyana Police Force.
Police identified the suspect as Quincy Baird, a 37-year-old resident of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara. He is being investigated for the offence of larceny by clerk or servant, an allegation tied to financial irregularities reportedly committed between July 1, 2021 and February 18, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the police said that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters conducted an operation on the East Bank Demerara on Tuesday, December 23, at approximately 4:33 PM. During the operation, Baird was contacted, informed of the allegation, arrested, and escorted to CID Headquarters, where he remains in custody pending investigations.

According to publicly available professional records, Baird previously served as Accounts Payable, Treasury and Tax Manager at GTT, now known as One Communications. His résumé also indicates prior employment with a well-known accounting firm and a group of entities that includes a fast-food outlet in downtown Georgetown.
Beyond his corporate background, Baird is also widely known in the creative and digital space as the owner of Shutters Studios and as a social media influencer, popularly referred to as “Mola Man.” His arrest has therefore sparked widespread discussion across both business and entertainment circles in Guyana.
Authorities have emphasized that investigations are ongoing. No further details have been released at this time, and the accused has not yet been formally charged.
This is a developing story.
All individuals mentioned are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. This report is based on official police statements and publicly available information.
